I am a Kent based NHS Midwife and a mum of two busy little men, currently on maternity leave. Although I truly love my job and have worked so hard to get here, becoming a mum has changed my perspective on life. During my first maternity leave, I had thought plenty about what my future may look like and tried to find different avenues for not only an additional source of income but to be more present for my son. The thought of going back to work full time, working long hours and missing precious moments with my baby and family was filling me with dread. Fast forward 3 years, now in my second maternity leave and after searching high and low, I finally found something that would provide me with everything that my heart desired, freedom and control over my own time. At first, I doubted myself, with little to no knowledge of the world I was about to step into I felt out of my comfort zone. But continuing as I was, was also not an option and change needed to happen. So I took a chance, and now this business is allowing me to build an income, whilst having the freedom to enjoy life, instead of feeling the pressure of long shifts and living pay day to pay day. This opportunity is giving me real options with the possibility of leaving the NHS altogether in the future.
